The direct flight from Kathmandu to Namche Bazaar lands at Lukla Airport, which is also called Tenzing Hillary Airport. The flight takes around 35 minutes to reach Lukla.

 After landing at Lukla airport, you have to walk for some hours to reach Namche Bazaar. 

First, you have to trek up to Phakding for 3 hours at a distance of 8km. Then again, to reach Namche Bazaar, you have to trek for 6 hours from Phakding at a distance of 10 to 12 km. 

Depending upon the time you arrive at Lukla by flight, you’ll either trek for Namche Bazaar or stay in Phakding and continue your journey to Namche Bazaar the next day.

If you have enough money to spend, then the Helicopter flight is the best journey to travel from Kathmandu to Namche Bazaar. In less than an hour, you’ll reach Lukla after your flight. 

Not all itinerary takes you from Kathmandu to Namche Bazaar, but if you make a special request, you can take off in Namche Bazaar.

If your flight has been canceled or delayed, helicopters can be the best alternative option. In case of an emergency, helicopters can transport you back to Kathmandu as they are capable of flying in conditions that airplanes cannot.

If you wish to travel by private vehicle or private jeep, it takes around 5 – 7 days to reach Namche Bazaar from Kathmandu.

 You cannot directly reach Namche Bazaar by Jeep. To reach your destination, you have to take a jeep from Kathmandu to Jiri or Phaplu, which takes around one day to reach. 

To reach Namche Bazaar from Jiri/Phaplu, you have to walk for Lukla, and after reaching Lukla, you again have to walk for days, then you’ll reach Namche Bazaar.

From Phaplu, it takes two days to reach Lukla. Similarly, from Jiri, it takes five days to reach Lukla. Once you reach Lukla, you have to trek for two days to reach your destination, Namche Bazaar. 

The journey by private vehicle or jeep from Kathmandu to Namche Bazaar is an interesting and exciting journey that provides Nepal’s various beauties. 

Although there is no direct access from Kathmandu to Namche Bazaar, the journey from Kathmandu to Jiri or Phaplu from Lukla and finally to Namche Bazaar creates an amazing journey with amazing environments and unique cultural connections.
