Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour Overview

Annapurna Base Camp is no doubt Nepal’s most popular trekking destination. But do you want to see this magnificent place from a new perspective? Yes, then delay no further and join our Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour today to discover the details of the Annapurna region that are often obscured by the rush of crowds during trekking.

Our Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour lets you see the magical details of the entire Annapurna region from above. From the air, you will see thick woodlands, rivers, hills, cliffs, gorges, glaciers, and mountains.

The highlight of our Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour is a 30-minute landing at Annapurna Base Camp (4130 m), also known as the Annapurna Sanctuary, within the conservation area and home to some of the highest peaks in the Annapurna range.

If you want a picture-perfect landscape and the thrill of flying over the evocative Annapurna mountain range, followed by a landing, this is an unmissable tour.

You will begin your Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour at the Pokhara Domestic Airport. Before boarding, our pilot will share the itinerary, destination details, and essential safety guidelines.

Now, buckle up, put on your headphones, and get ready to take off. See the phenomenal landscape of Pokhara, its serene blue lakes, and Sarangkot hill from a remarkable altitude.

We promise the thrill you will feel on our Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour from Pokhara will be unlike any other. You will soar over the beautiful Modi Khola, Macchapucchare Base Camp (3700 m), and Annapurna Base Camp, all the while the helicopter propellers hum around you.

You can take incredible photos while flying and enjoy the interesting trivia our skilled pilot shares. As you ascend, you’ll see the knife-like icy ridges of Ganesh, Langtang, Annapurna, and Manaslu peaks.

At Annapurna Base Camp, our pilot will find a suitable landing spot. Be ready to breathe in the pure mountain air and take in the sensational views.

Take out your camera for some unique photos with Annapurna I (8091 m), Fishtail (6993 m), Tharpu Chuli (5663 m), Singu Chuli (6501 m), Gangapurna (7455 m), Annapurna III (7555 m), Khangsar Kang (7485 m), Tarke Kang (7202 m), South (7219 m), Gandarva Chuli (6248 m), Hiunchuli (6441 m), and many more.

After an overwhelming 30 minutes with the beautiful mountains and equally beautiful Gurung people of Annapurna, you will reboard the helicopter and soar through the Annapurna sky back to Pokhara, carrying a huge luggage of memories to last a lifetime.

So don’t miss the chance to see the stunning Annapurna with our Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour. Choose a date and book the tour, available in all seasons, to have fun with friends and family.

Memorable Moments of Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour

  • A thirty-minute flight into the Annapurna Sky.

Your Annapurna Base Camp heli tour begins with a helicopter lift-off from Pokhara Airport. The city’s lush, fertile landscape will then begin to reveal itself below.

You will see the towering mountains, especially Fishtail, and Pokhara’s stunning lakes, including Rupa, Rara, Begnas, and Phewa. Sarangkot Hill will also be visible beneath you.  As you ascend further, Pokhara’s breathtaking greenery gives way to the glacial, snowy landscape of Machhapuchare Base Camp, followed closely by Annapurna Base Camp.

From the large helicopter window, you can take in all this captivating scenery from the comfort of your metal cabin.

  • Unexplainable Thrill of Landing at Annapurna Base Camp

Annapurna Base Camp is surrounded by high mountains, making helicopter landings and takeoffs challenging. In addition, the Himalayan terrain around Annapurna Base Camp is known for extreme and unpredictable weather. Fog, clouds, and wind can reduce visibility. Thus, landing and taking off at Annapurna Base Camp is an adventure in itself.

Feel the rush of flying over breathtaking landscapes and gazing out the windows as the plane approaches a seemingly inhospitable landing spot between the mountains.

The rugged, challenging terrain, the need to brake hard after landing, and our experienced approach-to-landing pilot’s expertise add an extra dose of adrenaline to every flight.

  • A 30-minute landing and breakfast at Annapurna Sanctuary

In our Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour, you will have around 30 minutes to spend at the base camp of the south face of Annapurna. Huge, colossal mountains encircle the base camp; thus, it is also called the Annapurna Sanctuary, home to many enormous and majestic mountains.

For a full thirty minutes, you will be in this stunning environment, where you can see Annapurna I, Fishtail, Tharpu Chuli, Singu Chuli, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Khangsar Kang, Tarke Kang, South, Gandarva Chuli, and Hiunchuli rising above the valley, often thundering with their presence.

You will also find numerous small tea houses run by Gurung and Magar people at this base camp, where you can enjoy comfort, warm meals, and hot beverages. Now, this is breakfast and a cup of tea that will linger in your memory for a long time.

Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour Itinerary

6 AM: Wake up bright and early, get ready for the tour

Get up, it’s time to pump up for your incredible Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour. Eat a light breakfast, then pack your daypack or handbag with your passport, a water bottle, sunglasses, gloves, sunblock, lip balm, and warm clothes.

6:30 AM: Pick up from your hotel and drive to Pokhara Airport, 20 to 30 minutes

Once you are ready, our guide with private transport will be at your hotel doorstep to drive you to Pokhara Airport. The early morning highway will be pretty empty, and you can already start to enjoy the refreshing morning views of Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh, and Fishtail peaks.

As soon as we arrive at the airport, we will check in and proceed with the formalities. We will have our passports and documents checked, along with our luggage weight.

Don’t worry; this process will end in 30 minutes. Each of us will have a boarding pass in hand, after which we will wait in the airport lounge for the departure announcement.

After the authorities confirm the weather and the helicopter’s technical status, we will proceed to the helipad at Pokhara Airport. Here, we will meet our experienced helicopter pilot, trained to global safety standards.

After greeting us, he will guide us through the safety procedures for our Annapurna base camp helicopter tour. We kindly request you pay your full attention to our pilot, who will teach you about the entry and exit from the heli, how to fasten the seat belts, how to communicate with headphones on, how to lock the doors, and more.

Now, we will board our heli and wait for it to soar high above till we are well above the white colossal peaks of Annapurna. Please note that each passenger will have their turn to sit beside the large heli window to enjoy the beautiful heavenly scenery below.

7 AM: Helicopter Flight over Annapurna Mountains

Our heli will now take off from Pokhara Airport and turn north towards the splendid Annapurna Base Camp. During this half-hour flight, our pilot will continue sharing interesting trivia about the site and the trekking trails.

Meanwhile, enjoy your aerial path graced by the majestic presence of Manaslu, Langtang, Annapurna, Ganesh, and Fishtail peaks.

Soon, the lush green Sarangkot hill will pass beneath us as we observe with great delight the diverse landscape of the very stunning Annapurna Conservation Area.

As we approach Annapurna Base Camp, the green hills and trees will give way to high glaciers and snowfields. Below, the Modi Khola is seen rushing with high current.

Take out your cameras and be ready to focus your lens at the Machhapucchare Base Camp (3700 m). Annapurna Base Camp is straight ahead, where our skilled pilot will land us softly; an experience filled with adrenaline.

7:30 AM: Annapurna Base Camp exploration with breakfast, 4130 m, 30 minutes

We will land in the legendary Annapurna Base Camp, home not only to phenomenal white mountains but also to welcoming people with whom we will share a few moments over a beautiful organic breakfast.

Due to the altitude and dry Himalayan air, we will have approximately 30 minutes in this location. Enjoy the white, beautiful, colossal visage of Annapurna I along with Fishtail, Tharpu Chuli, Singu Chuli, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Khangsar Kang, Tarke Kang, South, Gandarva Chuli, Hiunchuli, and many more.

Nearby, there will be comfortable tea houses serving hot, delicious meals with tea and coffee. Enjoying breakfast in this remarkably phenomenal setting is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

8 AM: Flight back to Pokhara and Hotel Transfer

Our incredible Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour is now drawing to a close, and we will board our helicopter again to return to Pokhara. Once you land at Pokhara Airport, our company transport will be ready to take you back to your hotel, but not before we issue your tour completion certificate.

My Everest Trip has helped me to achieve my EBC dream.. Trekking the EBC with My Everest Trip is one of my best hiking experiences. The initial contact with Puru, owner of the company, was smooth. He always gave me timely responses even though there are about 12 hours of time difference. Puru also made sure we were well taken care throughout the whole trip. He was at Kathmandu airport to pick us up, sent us to the hotel; He was on phone with different airlines to secure us a flight to Lukla when our flight had technical issues. After we were back in Kathmandu, he provided us with a private car to have a day tour of the city. During the trekking, our guide Shree, with his extensive experience on the trails, suggested us to hike counter-clockwise, which was the opposite of my original plan. I am so glad I took this advice and made our 12-day EBC-ChoLa Pass- Gokyo trekking a success. He also provided micro spikes and warm mittens for us. Without micro spikes we would not have crossed Cho-La Pass. I would highly recommend My Everest Trip to anyone who has the dream of hiking in the Himalayas.

EBC- Our most rewarding hiking trip Our 12-day hiking experience to EBC couldn’t be enjoyable without the help of our guide Shree and porter Mitra. Shree’s experience on the trail gave us good advice to hike counter clockwise, Namche- EBC- Cho-la Pass- Gokyo-Namche. Even though we had a few days of bad weather, We never had any problems, but enjoyed spectacular views of the Himalaya mountains, valleys, and the ecosystem. we would highly recommend Shree and My Everest Trip for anybody that want to experience Mount Everest camp hike.

EBC Trek, absolutely incredible!!! I can’t say enough incredible things about My Everest Trip, especially Puru (the owner) and Shree (my guide). From the very beginning, Puru was unbelievably responsive—patiently answering what must have felt like a billion questions and making me feel completely confident and prepared before even arriving in Nepal. Shree, my guide, was absolutely exceptional. I’m not the fastest trekker, but he never once made me feel rushed. He walked at my pace, constantly checked on how I was feeling, and took my health very seriously—making sure I stayed safe and avoided altitude sickness. His encouragement and positivity kept me going on the toughest days, and I truly don’t think I would have made it to Base Camp without him. What really sets this team apart is how far above and beyond they go. They helped customize my trip so I could spend a night at the iconic Everest View Hotel, which ended up being one of the highlights of the entire experience. They also handled all logistics seamlessly—securing the best tea houses and lounges along the route so I was always comfortable. Shree even helped me track down a tattoo studio in Namche, which turned out to be the highest tattoo studio in the world—such a unique and unforgettable addition to the journey! When weather delays impacted flights, they acted quickly and got me onto the second helicopter out—something that made all the difference in catching my return flight while others were stuck on the mountain. As a solo traveler, I always felt safe, supported, and genuinely cared for. Puru and Shree made sure I was comfortable every step of the way, turning what could have been a daunting experience into something unforgettable. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and as someone who isn’t exactly in peak physical shape, I’m incredibly proud to have made it to Everest Base Camp—with huge thanks to their guidance, care, and encouragement. If you’re considering trekking in Nepal, I wholeheartedly recommend My Everest Trip. You won’t find a more dedicated, thoughtful, and professional team.

Amazing Trip to EBC ! Our trip to EBC was amazing and an adventurous trip ! We were 4 hrs away from EBC and had to turn around due to a blizzard ( Snow storm ) and they had closed EBC due to amount of snow and risk. Since we had Shree with us, who was an absolute gentlemen, caring, and experienced, he guided us to a safe place. We walked down for 10 hrs in 3 feet of snow so that we can get rescued. I have to say that, without shree it wouldn't have been a great experience. I would highly recommend to hire Shree as your guide.

Unforgettable Adventure My friend and I had the best time trekking to Everest Base Camp with our amazing local guide, Shree! We're from Alaska and fairly used to hiking, but found the expertise and assistance from My Everest Trip to be invaluable (we got a sleeping bag, trekking poles, a porter, and all of the details taken care of!) The real treat though was getting a glimpse of the Himalayan life from a local tour guide. From getting patient answers to many questions, introduced to local delicacies, to evening musical jam sessions in teahouses, this trip was an unforgettable adventure.

I recently completed a 14-day trek in the Himalayas , around Ama Dablam and Gokyo lake, and I really enjoyed it. Our guide Shree was professional, calm, positive and knew the route very well. He checked our health on the altitude, kept us organized, and made sure everything went smoothly. We had to change the route due to the weather and Shree was very flexible, suggested options to us which I appreciated very much . If you’re planning a trek, I definitely recommend him.

Thankyou Shree!🙏 Just wrapped up a 14-day trek in the Himalayas and it was absolutely unreal – thanks to our amazing guide Shree. He knew the mountains like the back of his hand, kept us safe, and made the whole trip feel easy (even when it wasn’t!). Super organised, always had a smile, and genuinely cared about the group and locals. He went above and beyond every day – from helping us with altitude to sharing laughs over a cuppa at night. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide. If you’re thinking of doing a trek in the Himalayas – do it, and make sure you go with this legend.

If you had to pick one company to plan your EBC trek or really anything I would 100% pick this company, simply because of the owner. There was moments during my trip where I had concerns and the owner was always SO QUICK to reply and handle the problem in such a professional and simple manner. Knows how to communicate and reassure his clients like a natural born leader(he was also a guide for EBC before so he is extremely educated on trekking). Thank you again for this amazing experience🙏🙏.

We did the Annapurna circuit hike through this company, which took us 12 days. Everything was very well organised, and MP, our guide, was very helpful and ensured we were always able to acclimatise without any issues. Mahesh, our porter, was also great. The company also offered to transport our bags from Kathmandu to Pokhara, as we didn’t plan on heading back to Kathmandu for a couple of weeks.

Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour Additional Information

What time is best for the Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour?

As with many Himalayan tours, the breathtaking views of Annapurna and the glaciers are most spectacular in Nepal during the autumn and spring seasons.

From September to November, the Annapurna landscape is enveloped in cool autumn air, with daytime temperatures reaching up to 19 degrees Celsius. The sun becomes gentler, and the terrain reveals its depth, allowing you to take stunning photographs.

Spring, from March to May, is equally enchanting, as the pink hues of rhododendrons cover the entire Annapurna region. However, early March can be quite cold with occasional rain.

Keep in mind that these are the peak seasons for the Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour, so prices will be higher and you will have to book in advance.

However, if you enjoy the cold, winter tours from December to February are also an option. Early mornings may be foggy and cold, but the days are generally clear, bright, and sunny.

Summer/monsoon tours from June to August are also possible, but you may need to wait for clear weather for the helicopter flights. However, the price of the Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour varies in summer and winter.

SpringGenerally clearGood
Summer/MonsoonRain and cloudsMore weather disruption

How do we emphasize your safety during our Annapurna Base Camp Heli Tour?

If you often avoid helicopter tours due to fear, we want to assure you that helicopter tours in Nepal are entirely safe.

There is often news of helicopter crashes, but you may not realize how many takeoffs and landings happen every day.

We assure you that we work with airlines that operate modern helicopters equipped with the latest safety technology to prevent accidents.

Additionally, our pilots are highly experienced and trained, and they can meet global safety standards. They are not only certified and trained; they also receive regular updates, and their licenses must be renewed on time.

Their mental health is also regularly assessed to ensure they can make the right decisions in emergency situations. Likewise, before every helicopter tour, airport authorities will verify the helicopter’s weight, passenger count, fuel levels, takeoff and landing altitudes, and the weather forecast.

Similarly, at Annapurna Base Camp, if you experience altitude-related discomfort, our guide will be available to assist and administer oxygen if needed.

Safety Guidelines for you to follow during the Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour?

Together with our pilots, our collaborating airline, and airport staff, we will do everything possible to ensure your safety throughout the Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour. However, as a passenger, you also need to follow some safety rules during the helicopter tour, which are as follows:

  • Be attentive to all instructions given by the pilot
  • Honor the decision made by the pilot during the flight
  • Remain within the pilot’s vision when entering or exiting the helicopter
  • Only get in and out of the helicopter from the specified side
  • Accommodate the needs and safety of other passengers in a group tour
  • Always be vigilant and careful while taking pictures
  • Always secure your seat belts correctly and unbuckle only when instructed
  • Remain in your seat until directed by the pilot
  • Do not move or stand during the flight
  • Never discard anything out of the helicopter window
  • No smoking is allowed during the flight
  • Accommodate any changes if occur during the tour
  • Wait at the helipad and board the helicopter only when instructed
  • If you encounter any problems, report them to the pilot immediately

Who is the Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour from Pokhara suitable for?

Our Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour from Pokhara is one of the simplest journeys, taking you to the south base camp of the world’s 10th-tallest mountain, Annapurna I (8091 m).

The duration is 2 to 3 hours, with only 30 minutes at a non-extreme mountain altitude above 4000 m. Thus, with no serious risk of altitude sickness and nofers or overnight stays, the tour becomes one of the most cost-effective high- long road transmountain tours in Nepal.

The tour also doesn’t specify any age limits, with participation open to passengers aged 5 to 80. Thus, our Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour is a perfect family tour that you can also gift to your loved ones or celebrate a special occasion, such as an anniversary, graduation, or even a wedding.

However, if you fear flying at high altitude, or if you are expecting or have heart or respiratory issues, we recommend consulting your doctor before participating in our Annapurna Base Camp heli tour.

Acute Mountain Sickness/AMS or Altitude Sickness

Our Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour involves a small risk of AMS due to the rapid altitude change from 822 m in Pokhara to 4130 m at Annapurna Base Camp in just half an hour.

Our bodies aren’t designed to adapt to sudden altitude changes, so you may notice minor effects during the tour. However, we want to reassure you that these effects won’t be as severe as those you may experience on multi-day trekking trips.

However, we advise all passengers to be aware of early signs of AMS, including headaches, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, a rapid heartbeat, or shortness of breath.

If you experience any of these symptoms, please inform our guide or pilot immediately, and they will give you oxygen. If you are particularly sensitive to altitude changes, you can take Diamox after a light breakfast in Pokhara.

Also, keep drinking water or electrolyte drinks during the tour. If any of our passengers show serious signs, our pilot will promptly return you to Pokhara for immediate medical attention.

Preparation for the Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour from Pokhara

Our Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour may be short, but the risks associated are definitely something to think about. The UV rays here are strong, the air is dry and windy, the weather can change quickly, and it will be quite cold.

Therefore, ensure you pack the following items before taking off for the Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour from Pokhara:

  • Waterproof and windproof down jacket
  • Warm breathable pants
  • Warm sun hat or cap
  • Scarf and mask
  • Sunglasses
  • High SPF sunscreen and lip balm
  • Warm gloves
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Energy bars and some snacks
  • Camera and mobile
  • A passport and a copy of it

Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour Cost

Join a Group Tour: Starting at $500 USD per person, perfect for travelers seeking a shared adventure.

Overall, our Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour offers a great combination of luxury, comfort, and performance at an affordable price.

Which Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour: Private or Group?

When we say a private Annapurna Base Camp heli tour, we mean a tour centered on a high-end, luxurious experience for 1 to 2 passengers.

If you want a short escape to the majestic Annapurna Massif with complete personal space, consider our private Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour.

If you ask for the benefits, you will get the best seats, or shall we say, a front row seat for the perfect Himalayan views without the concerns of other travelers’ comfort and safety.

In addition, a private Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour offers the advantage of a lightweight helicopter that can ascend to higher altitudes, adding an extra layer of excitement to your adventure.

However, if you are a social butterfly and do not mind sharing the tour with strangers, the Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour is an excellent option.

As for the benefits, your total tour price will be reduced by nearly half, and you will benefit from an additional layer of safety and comfort from the presence of other passengers.

Which one: Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour or Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

Annapurna Base Camp trek has long been a familiar and beloved destination for tourists in Nepal. Thus, the route has been diverged, many new routes have been developed, and infrastructure has been promoted.

The result is that the shorter days of trekking can be accomplished in a week. But the charm remains the same: the picture-perfect, enticing landscape, great mountain views, and delightful encounters with the Magar and Gurung communities.

The Annapurna Base Camp trek is therefore a real-time high-mountain trek with the cultural and natural intimacy of the Annapurna region.

The Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour, on the other hand, is a luxury short tour that avoids the multi-day trekking. You will certainly feel the absence of village warmth and the wild nature of the Annapurna Conservation Area.

However, it does offer you the chance to be near the grand magical mountains of Annapurna within a short amount of time at a reasonable price.

It is therefore a perfect mountain adventure for those with joint issues, who don’t want to undertake long hikes, who don’t want to compromise on comfort, or who have shorter vacation days in Nepal.

Thus, the ultimate choice boils down to your time, needs, preferences, and budget.

Travel Insurance

We request that you obtain the appropriate travel insurance for our Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour. It is essential and required to obtain the permits for the tour.

Although the tour lasts only 2 to 3 hours, remember that we will still be at high mountain altitude, where unpredictability is the norm. Sudden change in weather, simple AMS turning into a serious issue, or sudden fall or injury, or illness while exploring the Annapurna Base Camp.

Sometimes, such situations necessitate urgent helicopter rescue and evacuation. Please note that the helicopter we use is strictly for the tour only, so you will need to cover the helicopter rescue cost yourself.

Please purchase travel insurance or add helicopter rescue coverage to your existing policy for our Annapurna Base Camp helicopter tour, up to an elevation of 4200 m.

We also recommend obtaining medical and accident insurance, as well as coverage for tour delays, flight postponements or cancellations, additional stays, and luggage loss.
