Annapurna region is the most popular trekking destination in Nepal. This Annapurna trekking region is traveled by about two-thirds of all trekkers in Nepal, i.e. over 60,000 each year thanks to its flawless mountain views, various scenery, and exotic mixture of Nepali, Tibetan, and Trans-Himalayan culture.

Annapurna is a Sanskrit name meaning “Goddess of the Harvests”. Annapurna Himal is a section of the Himalayas in north-central Nepal. It includes Annapurna I( 8,091 m or 26,545 ft) and13 additional peaks over 7,000 m (22,970 ft).The entire 55 km-long massif and surrounding area are protected within the 7,629 km2 Annapurna Conservation Area, the first and largest conservation area in Nepal.

There are 3 major trekking routes in this region: the classic Annapurna Circuit, which circles the Annapurna Himal itself; the Annapurna Sanctuary route to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC); and Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking  Mardi Himal Trek and the Jomsom  Muktinath Trek, which also included in Annapurna Circuit.

Kathmandu and Pokhara are the two ends of the entire circuit route. Pokhara is also a good starting place for other shorter treks, normally 3 – 4 days, reaching places like Ghorepani.
